Mission Events

Missions HeaderAt First Church, we take it seriously that when Jesus said 'go into all the world' he meant it. In light of that, we are constantly seeking ways to serve our city, our country, and our world through missions trips and opportunities of all kinds. Here are a few that we're participating in weekly. Many of us grew up believing that only missionaries were called by God to serve others; at First Church, we know that God calls all of us to point others to Jesus through tangible acts of service.

At First Church, our missions strategy is threefold. It begins in our city and our region, as we both lead and partner with ministries meeting the real needs of real people here at home. It extends to our nation, working with the United Methodist Committee on Relief, one of the largest relief organizations in the world, to respond to natural disasters across the country. It even goes as far as the whole world, as we serve real people in real need across the globe.

Domestic Missions :: Serving Jesus at Home

Joining Jesus on mission begins in our city and our region. We realize that there are real people in our own neighborhoods who have real needs, and we know that Jesus wants to meet them in real ways. That's why we work in our city and our region to make Jesus known through acts of service.

The First Church Food Pantry is open on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, and serves about 60 families each month.

National Missions :: Serving Jesus throughout the Country

Our teams travel the U.S. to serve communities in the aftermath of a disaster. Our teams have been to New Jersey and other states to connect with local people after calamity has dramatically altered their lives. We provide not only physical needs, but emotional and spiritual needs as well. We have a team of trained individuals who can offer emotional support after disaster has struck.

International Missions :: Serving Jesus Across the World

Our international teams head across the globe to serve people in real ways. These teams are led by experienced team leaders who have led many similar trips in the past. We have sent teams to the Dominican Republic and Guatemala.
